Follow the directions below to download HDFView and HDF-EOS Plug-in.

The HDFView's HDF-EOS plug-in for different platforms are listed below. Please select the proper file(s) for your platform. Carefully review the files listed below to select the ones you want, then click the link(s) to download. You can also download the file(s) by moving your mouse cursor over the link, right click your mouse button, and select Save Target As. The HDFView and HDF-EOS plug-in Help is also available. Also provided are instructions on obtaining the software through our public ftp site.

HDFView HDF-EOS Plug-in FTP Instructions

The tar files follow this format:
HDFView2.7_HDF-EOS_Plugin_SUN.run - built on Sun Solaris 2.10
HDFView2.7_HDF-EOS_Plugin_LNX.run - built on Linux Red Hat Enterprise (Linux 2.6.18-128.1.1.el5 #1 SMP x86_64 kernel)
HDFView2.7_HDF-EOS_Plugin_LNX64.run - built on Linux Red Hat Enterprise (Linux 2.6.18-128.1.1.el5 #1 SMP x86_64 kernel)
HDFView2.7_HDF-EOS_Plugin_MACINTEL32.run - built on Macintosh with Intel chip
HDFView2.7_HDF-EOS_Plugin_MACINTEL64.run - built on Macintosh with Intel chip
HDFView2.7_HDF-EOS_Plugin_WinXP.exe - built on Windows XP (works on Win XP, and possibly VISTA and Win 7)



All Java code built using Java Version 1.6 - Make sure the Java version running HDFView is 1.6.x. TO check Java version from HDFView, "Help->Java Version"

NOTE: If at any point during the ftp process the system hangs, try back later. The system maybe restarting. If this continues contact us and we will get this problem fixed.

To begin download type:

ftp edhs1.gsfc.nasa.gov

Name: anonymous
Password: <your e-mail address>

ftp>cd edhs
ftp> cd HDFView

Once in the directory set type to I, download the desired files (based on your hardware/os), and exit.

ftp> bin
ftp> get HDFView2.7_HDF-EOS_Plugin_LNX.run
ftp> bye

You are done downloading the HDFView tar files.

The Users Guide is also provided in the tar files. Once extracted the files from the tar files, you will find it in the User's Guide directory.
